Before I start, I would like to first warn you that Animonster is an Indonesian anime magazine that features random artists every month and they do not actually feature the real interview with UVERworld. The first 2 pages are the review on UVERworld as a band. The last 2 pages are probably just a translation of a short interview with UVERworld from a Japanese magazine. Also, I suspect there are translation errors in this magazine because it really doesn't make sense.

One more band that rock the music industry in Japan has made an appearance! As part of the new generation, UVERworld is a promising band that can be categorised as J-mixture pop rock. Illustrating their talents from the 5 members, music from UVERworld from their clear vocal, cool rap, a little pull on the turntable, also a heavy rhythm from their gutarists.
UVERworld is made up of TAKUYA [vocal], Katsuya and Akira [guitar], *Nobuto [bass] and *Shintarou [drum]. They were first formed a few years ago with the name Sangoku Road which means "sound" and "Goku" [very] with 7 members. Like what usually happen to other bands, the change in members occured at 2003, where their saxophonist and second vocalist leave the band. At that time, they were so worried about the future until to the extent they almost thought of disbanding.
The rest of the members tried to write songs that incorporate fresh ideas by using a certain style of music and changing their tempo. Thereafter, they stopped thinking too much but instead concentrate on writing more music and do better recordings. In 2003, they made a comeback with a new name and recorded a demo album which sell a total of 3000 copies, a remarkable sale considering they were not signed under any labels.
Not long after,
UVERworld started performing for many clubs and many recording companies all rushed to get UVERworld to sign a contract with them. UVERworld then signed a contract with Gr8!Records under the label sony which is a 'home' for many popular bands in Japan like Orange Range.
Even though they only started recently, they successfully smashed the Oricon Chart with their hit song D-tecnoLife, in the form of 2nd opening of Bleach which caught the attention of the public. This song was played from April to September 2005, replacing the 1st opening Asterisk by Orange Range. Their 2nd single entitled CHANCE! that is released on 26 October 2005 become a commercial and theme song for the game for said series, Bleach Heat the Soul 2.
On 25 january 2006, they released their 3rd single entitled just Melody following the theme 'spring' with beautiful lyrics and melody.
this single also consist of one track that is not included in their album and a remix of D-technolife by Ryukyu-Disco.
After the success of their 3 previous singles, they released their first album - Timeless on 15 February where a few singles included managed to help this album reach a high position of #5 on the oricon chart.
This album consist of 13 songs produced by Chieko Nakayama who has succeeded in producing an album for L'Arc~en~ciel.
Besides Chieko, this album is also co-produced and arranged by Satoru Hiraide who has also take charge of bands like Sads and Jelly.
UVERworld is also included in the album compilation JPOP CD2 which is released on 1 November 2005.
In that album, their song D-technolife is placed on the same position with songs by Asian KungFu generation, Puffy AmiYumi, Yuki, L'Arc~en~ciel, High and Mighty Color, Orange Range and other musicians. Not satisfied with Timeless and the album compilation JPOP CD2, they have plans on releasing another single entiteld Colors of the heart on 17 May 206 which will become the opening of the anime series Blood+.
One interesting thing in UVERworld's music is that their 'sound' is not restricted into a fixed style.
According to Takuya, one of those days, he wants to incorporate an orchestra style with the sounds of violin.
On the other hand, Katsuya who likes music from PANTERA and an indie band named 'the band apart' is more interested in finding sound that fits other songs for UVERworld.
Takuya is the main driving force behind UVERworld.
Besides writing the songs, he is also able to play many different types of musical instruments all by himself.
Takuya usually writes the song and play all the musical instrument then his friends would then 'polish up' said song.
In the recording process, all the members of UVERworld do not feel pressurised even though they aim to produce the best results.
They also comment on one another until everybody agrees with the song produced
Their song for the anime Bleach is a very cool rock song!
This song is also mixed with the concept of rap and hip hop. Even though they are still deciding on which direction they should go, the music they produce is implausible. With the name that they take from a German word "Uver", UVERworld plans to make sure that their music and popularity is known to every corner of the world.
