Personally I prefer UVERworld’s fast-paced song over their slower ones. So naturally I would grow to love their fast-paced song sooner or later most of the time and energy does fall in this category. No doubt.
“Awesome weird-bass introduction” was my first reaction. The song started out with a strong 20+ seconds bass part (my most favorite), followed by its systematic rhythm of “ECOlife ECOlife ECOlife”. Next, noticed the toned down on Takuya’s vocal part before building towards the climax of the verse. That is, the pattern I see. The song as a whole piece is very upbeat and full of energy. As for lyric, I have no comments just yet. Sorry.
A lot of people, including myself, found energy ‘weird’. Yes it is, at first. But then, that happens to UVERworld’s music numerous of times, not a surprise really. The song is addictive once you get used to the rhythm. Before you knew it, you probably be nodding your head or tapping your hands/or foot along with the “ECOlife ECOlife ECOlife” part. In my case, I have grown to love the song after 10-15 plays.
I described energy as ‘weird’ at the beginning, but ‘Fresh’ maybe a better word to after all. By ‘fresh’ I mean fresh from UVERworld’s usual mixture of pop/rock style, something that is new and more unique.
So the bottom line is: Give energy a chance. You loop it, the essential part of the process. Then judge it.
